Braga & Guimarães
Join me for a day of history, culture, and amazing local food as we explore two of Portugal’s most charming cities. We’ll start in Braga, where I’ll show you the breathtaking Bom Jesus do Monte and the city’s historic heart, including the Sé de Braga—Portugal’s oldest cathedral.
After a delicious traditional lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll head to Guimarães, the birthplace of Portugal! We’ll visit its medieval castle, the Dukes’ Palace, and take a relaxing walk through the UNESCO-listed old town.
Meeting Point
Your day starts with included pickup at 8:30 from your hotel in Porto or the surrounding areas, followed by a quick briefing before we begin our adventure.
Bom Jesus Do Monte
Visit the iconic Bom Jesus do Monte, famous for its beautiful baroque staircase and peaceful surroundings. Entrance is free, and you’ll have time to walk the stairs, enjoy the views, and take in the unique atmosphere.
Braga City Center Walking Tour:
Explore the historic center of Braga on a guided walking tour. Stroll through the old town, discover local markets, and see the city’s most important buildings while learning about its rich history.
Sé de Braga
Visit the Braga Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Portugal. Entrance is included as we step inside to explore its interior and learn about its importance in Portuguese history.
Drive Braga to Guimarães
Sit back and relax as we drive from Braga to explore the historic cities of Guimarães.
Free Time For Lunch
Lunch is not included in this tour. Guests will have free time to enjoy a meal of their choice, and I’ll be happy to recommend good local restaurants based on your preferences.
Visit Guimarães Castel
Visit the Castle of Guimarães, where Portugal was born. Entrance is free, and you’ll discover the medieval fortress that played a key role in the foundation of the Portuguese nation.
Guimarães City Center
Enjoy a guided walk through the medieval historic center of Guimarães, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander along stone streets and charming squares while discovering the stories behind the birthplace of Portugal.
Free Time in Guimarães
Relax with a coffee, explore local shops, or soak in the city’s ambiance. After we drive back to Porto.
Return Drive & Drop-Off in Porto
